  • When a user is typing a value in a drop down box that has value in a particular order, sometimes Access likes to 'help' out the user and suggest spelling, etc.  which will mess up the users characters being typed as it displayed a lightning bolt pop up. If you disable the AutoCorrect that will fix the problem.
  • Click on the drop down box next to the Lightning Bolt and select: Control AutoCorrect Options, then disable the 'Replace text as you type' option.
  • Alternatively, if you want to disable it later on, after the lightning bolt is not visible, do this:
    • In OneSource, click on Tools > Admin Tools > MS Access Menu's > Tools > Auto Correct Options... (then disable the 'Replace text as you type' option).
  • Another alternative is to leave the "Replace text as you type" option on, but remove specific fixes from the list.
    • For example many automotive OneSource customers may type "Protege" and have it replaced by Protégé. Simply follow the steps outlined above to access the "Replace text as you type" and remove "Protege to Protégé" from the list.
    • NOTE: This must be done on each user's individual copy of Access.
