How to setup a Windows VPN connection
- Open your Network and Sharing Center applet.
- Right click on the network connections icon in the system tray (in the bottom right corner of PC screen),
- Or, Open Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center
- Click Set up a new Connection or network > Connect to a workplace (then click Next)
- When prompted to use an existing connection click No, create a new connection, then click Next.
- Next, select Use my Internet connection (VPN)
- Enter the Public IP address (of the server you want to connect to) and the Destination Name (provided to you by the company's network admin)
- You may want to select 'Remember my credentials'
- Click Create
- This will add this connection to your list of active connections
How to connect to a Windows VPN connection (once you have established the VPN connection applet)
- Click on the Network icon in your system tray (in the bottom right corner of your PC)
- Click on the Connection that you want to connect to and select 'Connect'.
- Then login to server, using mstsc.exe (as though you were a PC IN THE SAME OFFICE AS THE SERVER), meaning you will need to enter the Server 'Name' or Server internal 'IP' address, such as 192.168.x.x...
